Horton Housing is a not-for-profit Housing Association that manages a wide range of different housing, training and support services across Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees and North Yorkshire. We offer support to a variety of people, including those who are homeless or at risk, young people and refugees. We offer accommodation, skills and language support, and use a strength based approach to help the people we support achieve their goals in a manner which works for them.
We are currently recruiting for a Manager to join our Supported Accommodation Service. You will manage one of our three Supported Accommodation schemes; the scheme you will be managing is based in Bradford. This role is permanent, 35 hours per week.
The role
As a Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the service, and for providing a welcoming, homely, safe and secure environment for young people within a group home setting. You will lead a team of Support and Project Workers to promote independence and safe behaviours and equip young people with the skills to move on to independent living.
Further, you will have an understanding of the issues and challenges of unaccompanied asylum seeking children. Finally, you will have experience and knowledge of issues relating to the safeguarding of young people, as well as knowledge on health and safety relating to property.
What we are looking for
- Ability to manage, support, motivate and lead a group of support workers in a group living setting
- An understanding of the issues facing Asylum Seeking children
- Knowledge of safeguarding and experience dealing with safeguarding issues
- Experience of housing management including health and safety
- Desirable to have experience of working in an environment that is Ofsted registered and/or have an understanding of Ofsted requirements
- Level 4 or 5 NVQ qualification in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification) or the willingness to undertake this qualification once in post
